Cat pee only stinks once it sits wet and turns to ammonia. Clumping litters just trap that wet pee in the box — so unless you scoop constantly, it still smells. Farmstead pine pellets absorb the moisture, bind the bacteria, and keep working. No additives, no cover-up, just the pure power of pine.

The Problem

Why Your Litter Box Stinks

  1. Urine sits wet.

Fresh urine barely registers — but let it sit and bacteria turns it into ammonia within a day. Keeping it dry is everything.

  2. Spent litter stays in the box.

Litter that’s already soaked can’t protect anything. It just sits there stewing. And stinking.

  3. Most litter covers odor instead of removing it.

Perfume sprayed over ammonia is still ammonia. Your nose just catches the perfume first. Farmstead eliminates it instead.

How Farmstead Fixes It

Speed

Absorbs fast.

Soaks up urine in minutes, before ammonia can get started.

Capacity

Holds 3X more.*

Holds 3X more moisture than typical clay — even the ones packed with additives.

NO CLUMPS? WHAT HAPPENS TO ALL THE PEE?

When the pellets get wet, they break down into a soft, sawdust-like texture that binds up the bacteria causing the smell and lets the moisture evaporate. So the litter keeps absorbing, over and over — no pee clumps to scoop, and a lot longer between full changes.

REAL PINE SCENT

No additives.

Pure scent straight from the wood. No artificial fragrance, no perfumes, no binders. Just the pure power of pine. Non-tracking and 99% dust-free, so the litter stays where it belongs — in the box.

*1-hour saturation test: pine pellets absorbed 335g of moisture; clumping clay absorbed 112g.

99% Dust-Free · No Tracking · 100% Natural · Biodegradable

Not Your Run-of-the-Mill Pellet.

Most pellets are processed until nothing of the pine remains. Farmstead is crafted for odor control — no perfumes, dyes, binders, or additives. Just pure pine, processed right.

Making the switch

Cats can be picky. Here’s how to switch without the drama.

  1. 1

    Start with a 3-to-1 mix.

Fill the box about three-quarters with your current litter and one-quarter Farmstead pine. Let your cat get used to the new texture and pine scent.

  2. 2

Shift the ratio over 7–10 days.

Each time you change the box, add a little more Farmstead and a little less of the old litter, until you’re fully switched over.

  3. 3

    Settle into the routine.

Once you’re 100% Farmstead: scoop the solids daily, stir the pellets so absorbed sawdust settles to the bottom, and do a full change far less often than you’re used to.

Tip: keep the box in the same spot during the switch — one change at a time is easier on a cat than two.

Frequently Asked Questions

Standard wood pellets are made from mixed wood species and mill scraps — meaning the formula varies from bag to bag. Farmstead uses a single specific wood type, processed to a consistent standard, which is what allows the ammonia elimination chemistry to work reliably every time.

Yes. Farmstead is 100% natural pine with no chemical additives, perfumes, or binders — just a light scent from the wood itself. It controls odor by eliminating ammonia instead of covering it up, so cats aren’t dealing with heavy fragrance or clay dust. If your cat is particular, mix it with their current litter for the first few days, then switch to pine only.

A 20 lb bag is about a 3-month supply for one cat. The pellets absorb, expand, and keep working, so a little goes a long way. Use the Quantity Recommendation Quiz above for a personalized estimate.

Scoop the solids as usual — there are no pee clumps to dig out. When it’s time for a full change, spent litter can go straight to the garden or compost. The ammonia is already neutralized during use, so there’s no months-long wait.

Yes. Farmstead is 99% dust-free and non-tracking. The pellets stay in the box instead of clinging to paws and getting carried across the floor.
